The Xeon's are only 32bit.   I installed the proprietary Radeon video
driver from the ATI website and...presto!....everything now works like a
dream.  I guess the issue of video card conflicts is for real.   Tuxracer
plays a lot better too :).

Now I'm ready to lay down some tracks....
