It might be hard for me to be objective because I've been using Linux for a fair amount of time. Have you done a Planet CCRMA install? Fernando is providing an extremely effortless installation with most of our favorite applications. I suspect that any audio card listed and marked as supported in the Alsa matrix will be up and running without having to deal with driver issues. I'm a musician/engineer and don't have the time or patience for installation issues. During the first couple years I didn't mind doing admin work but thankfully no longer have to deal with it. ron > David > > > On Sat, 27 Nov 2004 11:06:47 +0100, MarC > <marc_contrib@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > what about creating a wiki website to submit > "soundcard experiences"? > > > > I think it would be a good idea, > http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc is > > a good page to see if your hardware is supported > (I suppose evrybody > > uses alsa) but I would like also to know user > opinions of each card: > > What I want to say is that one card can be > supported by alsa but the > > whole setup is easier for some ones and in some > cards there are more > > useful utilities around the driver than in other > ones.
