James Would you care to help with this project. Considering your experience with PHP and MySQL and Wiki? We are attempting to build a database of sound card issues and compatiblity and in general track what is in use out there OS, Hardware, etc.. It would encompass MacOS/X and Linux and what the heck BSD users and Pro/Semi-Professional audio applications.
