I sure hope this type question is not off topic; I suspect lot's of us
are musicians and some are like me, still learning about music and devices
... And I think I might be able to contibute something on this topic. A
couple of years ago I bought a Yam DD-5 at a bottomfeeder outdoor flea
market in Cinci ($10) without the manual, but clean and works well. In
the process of getting it to work, I did alot of googleing. Lot's of info
out there, including that to get much volume from the pads you have to use
sticks and hit them hard. It's designed for drummers. But there is a
simple hardware modification of the pads circuit that will increase
their sensitivity so that they can be played with your hands.

My info on the search I did is on the disk of a machine that's at a buddy's
place getting a new motherboard and he's out of town till July, so I can't
get you URL's. If you can't find it via google let me know and I'll send
it to you when he gets the machine running. I haven't done the mod on my
DD-5 but plan to one-of-these-days ...

I found the discussion that came from this topic very interesting and
potentially useful for some ideas I have. Thanks for posting.
