The synth engine knows absolutely nothing about notes, frequencies,
tunings, etc.

all MIDI will be handled by (bundled) seperate apps, which will support
fine tuning

I agree.. other than disconnecting all my ports when you restart the
engine, that's the thing that annoys me most about fluidsynth
