It's more serious than you could imagine. $1000/month would have a pretty good (not great, but pretty good) programmer working full time for you in Russia. Now doing that with individuals may be hard in regards to reliability; but we have at least three reliable Linux companies who might be in for the talk. The idea would be outsourcing the project development to Russia with some form of community payment, *and* making the result open source. This is all easier said then done, but just take note.
