First test your audio with a mp3 song and xmms with default OSS output, if
this works step one is done! Next use aplay to play the mp3.
  aplay anything.wav
If you can't hear anything try to play with the mixer "alsamixer" or which i
prefere "qamix".

Now let's do the midi part:
First start it again as midiserver as you did before. Next you have to connect
the sequencer to the midi input, so that the notes know where to go. Start
the sequencer program "rosegarden4" or "muse" which are both very nice. Than
juse "qjackctl" which is a nice graphical frontend for midi and audio routing
trough alsa and connect the midi out of rosegarden4 to the timidity -iA
client. If you play the midi file in the sequencer the notes get routed to
the timidiy and then timidity should perform some music.

good luck

Keine "Software-Patente" in Europa

genie?t.
