The answer is probably Ardour.  You can look at my web page to see how I
set up my first system.  It also has some info on the hardware I'm using
and some others:

I have just recently set up another system using Fedora Core 1 and the
"Planet CCRMA at home" RPM's and I highly recommend doing it that way as
opposed to the "nuts and bolts" method that I used for my first system.
