Yes. Especially for a Red Hat user (but not only) it's the perfect
audio/music distribution.

Well, i use PlanetCCRMA but i'm not religious about it. If i wanna build
my own RPM, then i just go ahead and build it.

Install everything from RPM, don't erase old packages too early, and
you'll be able to back out.
