If you only care about spdif you may as well go for one of the maudio cards - which are as well supported as the RMEs, but dont make you pay for all the additional i/os you dont want. I'd steer clear of USB devices (they seem to be problemnatic on the whole) and theres no supported firewire devices that I know of. - Steve
