The problem with that setup is that camcorders tend to need extension lenses (and the threads for that) to go wide angle, and for board games you really want wide angle. And then the wide angle lens blocks the microphone ports so you want an external microphone and ... On the plus side, I can also put a closeup lens on the filter threads. <https://youtu.be/LGVFCsZ7iQk> It is also easy to reliably record in parallel with webcam usage (different codec from the stream picked off of HDMI). All in all, probably enough of a hassle to be commendable as a go-to solution.
