Thanks, but it may not be suitable as it loads the file into memory
before playing. Most of my files are about 2gB and a new one may be
requested every few minutes. jack-play seeks into a new .wav almost
seamlessly.

See my reply to Joel Roth, above, for what I hope will solve my problem.
