alsaplayer is an ancient, essentially dead player.

there are dozens (maybe even hundreds) or choices for media playback.
the right choice depends on precisely what you're doing.

to be honest, it's not clear to me how or why you even discovered
alsaplayer or thought it was the correct tool to use.
