Hi,

even most cheap hi-fi equipment from the end of the 80th most likely
provides much better audio quality, than most, if not all pro-sumer
audio interfaces for the phones outputs. I at least experienced the
phones outputs of the Presonus 1818vsl and the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20
2nd Gen as less good, than the phones output of a really cheap Pioneer
hi-fi amp or that of a cheap Pioneer CD player or Sony consumer DAT
recorder. I only experienced a better audio quality, than provided by
the mentioned hi-fi equipment, by the phones output of a RME HDSPe AIO
audio card, but I don't call this a pro-sumer card. It doesn't mean
that I don't use the phones outputs of my Scarlett 18i20, for some
purposes they are usable, let alone that they easily could drive my
600Ω AKG K 240DF, much louder than I ever would use. At the moment I'm
in a cortisone treatment of the ears. While I always got rid of acute
hearing loss/tinnitus in the past by blood thinners, the cortisone
treatment seems not to help to get rid of a tinnitus. I didn't shoot my
ears by listening to too loud audio signals, it happened for no
obviously reason. However, less loud headphones are better than loud
headphones, but often headphone outputs provide a bad audio quality.

Regards,
Ralf
