Does it make any sense to embed their configuration API into Ardour ?
There is no configuration API. Unless you mean put a web browser into Ardour so that it could be pointed at the server in the device.
Also, why would Ardour do that? Ardour is intended to be hardware neutral (and can even be run without hardware).
