Re: M-Audio M-Track Eight

Hi,

sorry, I can't say anything about the M-Track Eight itself. But I'm the one who initiated the development of kernel support for its predecessor Fast Track Ultra 8R and I've implemented the kernel interface for its internal mixer and effects section. So, I have spend a lot of time with M-Audio hardware on Linux.

In essence:
If there's a comparable device at a similar price point I would go for that instead of any M-Audio hardware. I never got reliable low latency operation, it has an incredibly loud power-on pop sound, customer support is sub-par. Sadly, the device is un-sellable now because there's no Windows driver anymore (which is quite ironic as the device started as a Windows/Mac only interface and now is Linux-only).

All of this might have changed for the better now with the new devices but for me M-Audio is still on a blacklist ;-)

Regards,
Felix
