Hi folks: I've been lerking here for a while and enjoying a lot of the conversations and peoples recordings. The reason I originally signed up is to ask if someone might be able to give me pointers on how to access usb devices from the command line with alsa. I seem to be accumulating usb audio devices and have found I am confused about how they are to be interacted with. I currently have three different devices a Marantz microphone, a mixer and a tape cassette player supposed to be useful for converting old tape cassettes to digital. The mic and tape player create devices in /dev but I'm not exactly sure how to use utilities such as arecord with them. I was hoping there was some sort of basic how-to or tutorial on just how they are meant to be accessed. If anybody can give me some ideas what to look for documentation wise I'd certainly appreciate it.
