They could have more ! :) The minimalist aspects are certainly due to the rather short time spent on this. There's always room and there's certainly no definitive version. I'm still learning a lot. For mixing practice I could use existing multi-track projects as found for instance at the Cambridge Music Technology web site but instead I make my own. Which brings up an interesting point: not being fully there. As I mentioned previously, I have difficulty with pieces that I come up with which I consider 'serious' and well-thought out, as they turn out to reflect much of the work put in them instead of the flexibility, the spontaneity, that feeling of catching a moment, the freshness. They end up sounding overworked and way too careful in approach. So when I start with the idea being to make an example track so I can practice some mixing, then the 'serious' aspect is put aside and that gives a much more lively result, be it rhythmic or mellow. In the end, striking a balance that would keep 'freshness' while allowing for a 'serious' approach is what I would like to attain. > The analogue feel of repro-1 is great. When they started working on this and made the Linux very-early-beta available (and were asking users to give feedback) I thought this would not be a synth to get. Six months later though, the work they put into the filtering algorithms is very good. It has character and as you've mentioned, fits very nicely in sequenced patterns. It bites but also retain the 'sober' approach of u-he synths. To compare, Discovery Pro is a synth that bites and has no restrictions in going overboard, much like playing heavily distorted electric guitar. I have another piece whose mix I will finalize today, as well as a remix of one that's out there, "Jumanmai" that could be improved. Cheers.
