So it does seem to be a problem with the 32-bit version of jack_capture. This should be fixed, but in the meantime, I can recommend jack_timemachine for recording. jack_rec might also work.
... Thanks Johannes. I didn't get timemachine to compile and jack_rec had the same issue. But I'm trying ecasound with w64. Otherwise I might compile one of those apps myself and see if it makes a change.
