I use NI 's komplete Audio 6 too. Absolutely great audio interface, even if the guy in the shop told me NOT to buy it. Good price. Good preamp and so on.
I'm even recording my auto-prod album with it, and I'm a guitarist: I mean I need a good preamp which keeps my guitar + amp + SM57 's characters.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I use a Native instruments Komplete Audio 6. which appears to me still
current. Very linux compatible & been reliable for my limited
requirements. I've never pushed it to its limits or tried to extend it
so my knowledge is limited.

Used all 4 channels, midi i/o, phantom power, monitor out, phones.
Not used SPDIF.
