The search term "linux video cue software midi" does lead to nothing.
IIRC for audio only, there is just linux-show-player and one other
program available.

Scripts receiving MIDI events in obscure amidi loops and trying to
trigger vlc with some option, unlikely would provide something usable.

I suspect video cue is a domain of proprietary operating systems.

Hm? The search terms "vj software linux" and "vj software linux midi"
show several hits.

I didn't read them. Have you already checked VJ software for Linux?
