An inventor invents, Then the engineer maximizes the difference between the cost of production and the profit at sale. (not talking audio engineer here) Over simplified for sure but the manufactures are there to make profits and many are owned by holding companies who do not even care about the reputation of the companies they own... Or understand the product or that product's marketplace. Not a blanket statement for sure, but pretty common for entry level equipment.
