From what I know of irqbalance I would recommend using it in all cases on a multi-core system. If you don't use it all IRQ request will be handled by cpu0 which degrades performance of your system. When you use CPU pinning you don't need it of course but I've never encountered anyone using this on his desktop system. Jeremy
