Oh, I removed the `uname -m` from Makefile.am and Makefile.in, ran autoreconf/automake/autoconf (yes, I slashed the hammer a few times too often maybe, just to make sure i hit the nail), then proceeded as before and all was fine. it looks nice indeed, i wonder how it compares to japa/jaaa (both of which i don't know well and don't even have installed right now).
