Seems the thread ventured quite a bit away from the original question. 
Thanks for all the good information!

To give an alternative answer regarding the Focusrite saffire pro 40, I see it's marked as experiemental on ffado.org though there seems to be quite a bit of action so I would assume basic things work stable and some of the advanced stuff, maybe not.

But there is no problem. So the irq order was specific to my old P4.
