Ok - I placed an empty file called sfdb in ./.ardour and I got one step 
further: 
Now it stops at: [ERROR]: No toggle button pixmaps found to match 
toggle-button [0-9] *.xpm$
Could not initialize ardour

Isn't this 09beta3 rpm from THAC supposed to work out of the box?
