Ooops, I stupidly forgot to ask what alsa version you were using.
Although support for rev 0x32 card is a trivial 1 line addition to the 
driver code, it isn't part of alsa 0.9.6 yet, you'll have to either 
patch it yourself or use the cvs version of alsa.

One small comment on the dmesg output : in your initial post you pasted 
this lspci output snippet :
01:09.0 Multimedia audio controller: Xilinx Corporation RME Hammerfall 
DSP (rev 32)
I can see no mention of such a PCI device in the dmesg output. Did you 
do anything since then, like changing the card's pci slot ?
