Or why we don't want to encourage apps that just need that functionality 
to use jack by default.

Good reaon to let them run via artsd. Then it's just a simple task of 
turning on artsd support when you want that functionality and turning it 
off when you dont. We could accomplish this by making jackd disable 
artds on startup ;)

Another flag for someone to implement :)
