Well depending on your cash supplies you should look into a dual cpu 
system as you can never have enough power for plugins and synths in 
realtime.

If not then AMD has a better rep in Linux land than Intel.

Plenty of RAM and ATI has better performing drivers than nvidia although 
that can also depend on your mobo/vga combination.

Ask here before you buy with a list of specs and you'll get plenty of 
feedback.
