Many thanks, Dave.  

This afternoon I got 4.0.2 to work  on another machine
(with a Delta 1010), but (*sigh*) no sound yet here at
home...I did, however, get it to see audio devices in
both ALSA and JACK with 4.0.2.  This is a step
forward, and I'll have some time to play with it a bit
more later in the week.

BTW: The src.rpm version actually builds/packages a
separate rpm, "jmax-jack" for adding jack support,
very nice.
