hi, i'm not sure if i understand you correctly, but if you are talking about the alsa tarball and the --with-jack option of the alsa config: this is not necesary to run jack. the --with-jack option of alsa applies to building the pcm_jack plugin, to use alsa native applications as jack clients (which works only half btw), and does only apply to alsa-lib maarten
