well, if i said i'm not an expert on the physical layer of cds, that would
be and understatement, the truth is that i hardly know a word about that.
but i think you're right, it seems to me that some of what has been said
on this thread assume a rather simplified model of how the data is written
and read in an audio cd.

haven't reread my pohlman lately (that means many years), but i remember
it was a good reading. there may be many better resources now, but pohlman
was highly recommendable on the subject.
