Ah yes, I probably didn't explain that bit. If it gave _an_ error message it 
would be fine. But it goes on and on about it. You see I'm using a rather 
cranky old AV55 MoBo *cough* and I think hotplug is looking for something 
rather more sophisticated than what my board has to offer :-]

I've deleted all four packages for now, I will worry about it once I've 
actually got the demudi part of my install to give me anything but error 
messages. The equipment I'm trying to run this on would probably make you 
shudder, so the various 'undocumented creatures' in some of these packages, 
I'm guessing, have more chance of fouling up the works. Besides I'm an utter 
newbie, so there's probably a couple of _really_ obvious things I've 
overlooked in my configuration.

I'm working my way through it slowly and I guess I'll just have to be patient.
It is just so valuable having a few online brains to pick. Thank you all, you 
give me hope :-)
