Are you sure that you have an OPL3-chip inside? 
According to http://www.muenster.de/~akorves/asus_l7g_de.html (in
German) the Asus L7000 has an Intel ICH 8x0, AC'97 Codec. You
need the snd-intel8x0 module then.
