     You might be able to get what you want from a program called wdat.  I 
just met the guy that wrote it, which is how I found out about it.  I haven't 
played with it yet, but his description seems to suggest that it might 
be useful to you.  He uses it to transfer music cassettes into his computer, 
and says "It can detect silence between songs and split songs as it records."
