IIUC theres no "bitwidth" inside oggs, its just a representation of the
shape of the input signal, so the bitdepth of the source shouldn't have a
significant effect on the kind of data stored. I may be totaly wrong here
though.

Is there a DC offset which the cheap card is eating?
