If by playing live you mean "hear what you're actually playing/recording"; 
yes, no problem. Add a fluidsynth softsynth and load a soundfont in 
fluidsynth. Select the patch you want to use. Set track output to fluidsynth 
and use the same midi input as you're using now. Remember to press the red 
record-button to the left on the actual track in the tracklist.
