thanks for the response brian, and my own googling seems to back up what you say, but i still can't quite believe it...hammerfall is the ONLY pcmcia audio card supported under linux??? that seems hard to swallow...there must be others surely...i just need a stereo in/out with a high bit rate (i would settle for 20 bits). Dropping 1000$ for the hammerfall breakout box and cardbus is just out of my price range. No one else has any suggestions....that would be a rare failure in the linux community, but i guess that the whole point of this list is that audio under linux is still fairly behind...anyway... >From: Brian Redfern <bredfern@xxxxxxxxxxx> >Reply-To: linux-audio-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >To: linux-audio-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: Re: [linux-audio-user] indigo linux >Date: Fri, 18 Apr 2003 09:36:40 -0700 (PDT) >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Received: from roar.music.columbia.edu ([128.59.195.116]) by >mc2-f36.law16.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.5600); Fri, 18 >Apr 2003 09:38:07 -0700 >Received: from roar.music.columbia.edu (IDENT:mailman@localhost >[127.0.0.1])by roar.music.columbia.edu (8.11.6/8.11.0) with ESMTP id >h3IGlAQ24769;Fri, 18 Apr 2003 12:47:10 -0400 >Received: from muse.calarts.edu (muse.calarts.edu [198.182.157.5])by >roar.music.columbia.edu (8.11.6/8.11.0) with ESMTP id h3IGkdQ24746for ><linux-audio-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Fri, 18 Apr 2003 12:46:39 -0400 >Received: from localhost (bredfern@localhost)by muse.calarts.edu >(8.11.6+Sun/8.10.2) with ESMTP id h3IGaeG04540for ><linux-audio-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Fri, 18 Apr 2003 09:36:40 -0700 >(PDT) >X-Message-Info: UZmYcfFpTCewzfqvyl1d15R59mlxBfYY >In-Reply-To: <Sea1-F74UZq3dUO0a4D00006f4f@xxxxxxxxxxx> >Message-ID: <Pine.GSO.4.21.0304180934530.3824-100000@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> >Sender: linux-audio-user-admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >Errors-To: linux-audio-user-admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >X-BeenThere: linux-audio-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.13 >Precedence: bulk >List-Help: ><mailto:linux-audio-user-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=help> >List-Post: <mailto:linux-audio-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> >List-Subscribe: ><http://music.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user>,<mailto:linux-audio-user-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=subscribe> >List-Id: A list for linux audio users <linux-audio-user.music.columbia.edu> >List-Unsubscribe: ><http://music.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/linux-audio-user>,<mailto:linux-audio-user-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe> >List-Archive: <http://music.columbia.edu/pipermail/linux-audio-user/> >X-Original-Date: Fri, 18 Apr 2003 09:36:40 -0700 (PDT) >Return-Path: linux-audio-user-admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 18 Apr 2003 16:38:07.0371 (UTC) >FILETIME=[E4061DB0:01C305C8] > >I believe there's not, the last time I looked at the alsa soundcard >matrix, it says its possible to have a driver but it hasn't been written >yet.
