Re: Working on audio for qcom apq8098 / msm8998

Hi Marc,

There are two ways you could enable MI2S audio via HDMI,
1. via ADSP, which is what you have in the DT.
2. by passing DSP directly configuring to LPASS MI2S registers.(this needs a speical tz firmware to allow cpu to access LPASS registers)

You need to do only one thing, not the both.

By looking at some of the errors i would suggest you to

1. check if the MI2S pins are correctly configured.
2. if MCLK and BITCLK for these are MI2S are configured correctly with the required clk rate. (Pl take a look at existing examples sdm845/8016...) 3. set the correct mixers to connect FE and BE dai links.(look at existing ucm files for hints)

thanks,
Srini

Looks like the audio DSP might not be correctly initialized?

Right now, I'm thinking I might (??) need the code in sound/soc/qcom/lpass-cpu.c
to be called.

$ git grep asoc_qcom_lpass_cpu_platform_probe
sound/soc/qcom/lpass-apq8016.c: .probe  = asoc_qcom_lpass_cpu_platform_probe,
sound/soc/qcom/lpass-cpu.c:int asoc_qcom_lpass_cpu_platform_probe(struct platform_device *pdev)
sound/soc/qcom/lpass-cpu.c:EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL(asoc_qcom_lpass_cpu_platform_probe);
sound/soc/qcom/lpass-ipq806x.c: .probe  = asoc_qcom_lpass_cpu_platform_probe,
sound/soc/qcom/lpass-msm8998.c: .probe = asoc_qcom_lpass_cpu_platform_probe,
sound/soc/qcom/lpass-sc7180.c:  .probe = asoc_qcom_lpass_cpu_platform_probe,
sound/soc/qcom/lpass-sc7280.c:  .probe = asoc_qcom_lpass_cpu_platform_probe,
sound/soc/qcom/lpass.h:int asoc_qcom_lpass_cpu_platform_probe(struct platform_device *pdev);

Is there an equivalent HW block for msm8998?

Vendor kernel has no hits for hdmiif.

I don't see anything relevant downstream :(

Do I need to look at the HW block at address 0xee000000 ?

lpass-lpaif could be LPASS_LPA_IF_REG_BASE at LPASS_BASE + 0x00100000 ?

Regards
