You could swap it around maybe like so:

int dfl_feature_instance_init() ...
{
	feature->ops = drv->ops;
	if (drv->ops->init)
		return drv->ops->init(pdev, feature);

	return 0;
}

With the caveat that feature->ops gets always set ...
