Just wondering, Did your setup ever work? If yes, does your 4 port switch have one of these buttons to select Uplink on/off? If yes, is it in the correct position? I have had this problem several times, and the cause has been someone cleaning up boxes and cables and accidentally depressing this button and changing its position.
