That's hardly a convention to me:

$ ls -l /proc/sys/kernel/*abled
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Nov 29 18:47 /proc/sys/kernel/ftrace_enabled
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Nov 29 18:47 /proc/sys/kernel/kexec_load_disabled
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Nov 29 18:47 /proc/sys/kernel/modules_disabled

enabled, disabled, ...
