I'll also try Rafael's suggestion re acpi_osi. OK, so, findings: F16 and F17 live images reboot quickly. F18 is the first that reboots slowly. That gives us a range of kernel-3.3.4-5.fc17.x86_64.rpm (the F17 release kernel - last known good) to kernel-3.6.10-4.fc18.x86_64.rpm (the F18 release kernel - first known bad). I'll try and see if I can find a way to narrow the range any.
