Hi folks. I have a client with a workstation using the Asus Z8NA motherboard and two Xeon E5530s but it is unable to ever trigger turboboost on any of the cores. Len's turbostat tool shows that turbo should be available but it never triggers. I do not show any ACPI errors in dmesg. I have tried booting the kernel both with and without acpi_osi=Linux and I have also tried the old "processor.nocst=1" trick as well. Could someone possibly help me debug this problem on Linux? The BIOS is configured properly for turbo and turbo triggers under Windows. I am able to run the same kernel on a Core i7 rig and turbo engages under Linux so I am beginning to suspect there might be something buggy with the BIOS on this Asus board. Below is the output of turbostat when all cores are loaded to 100%. When idle, the cores downclock just fine to 1.8 GHz and all C-states are entered.
