Hi,
I tried to suspend a device (ide cdrom) to save energy in my laptop. I
did it using:
echo -n 2 >/sys/devices/pci0000\:00/0000\:00\:1f.1/power/state
I have got a message in syslog that the device is suspended but no
decrease of energy consumption. The configuration of the PCI was not
changed. It seams that the device is off only for system but still
physically enabled. The question is: Does the ACPI is responsible for
turning off the device (and how to do that) or I have to write extension
for driver?
This is report of lspci for the device:
bash-3.00# lspci -xxx -s 0:1f.1

As I said the suspend does not change anything. Contrary, windows
operating system is able to shut down the device and it changes the
state from:

I found a recipt how to off the pci (intel manual for ich7-m) but I have
no idea where it should be in ACPI (I donot know much about it) or in a
driver.
