If it was 8bit it was not NE2000 compatible but would be NE1000
compatible. It is possible to drive some NE2K clones in 8bit slots and
there is a special DOS packet driver for it, but a standard NE2000
driver won't work. A modified 3C509 driver also works with some PC/XT
class hardware.
