ELKS sources - just how can the latest version be obtained?

Folks,
I've been trawling through the mailing list archives and I've seen the various messages indicating the on-again off-again nature of the cvs server. I've tried all the suggested cvs checkout commands and all I get is "Connection timed out". In addition, any attempt to access Jodys www server directly, results in a "connection refused ...". The publicly available sourceforge download tarball shows timestamps of files dating back to 1997 when I unpack it, and I can see from the mailing list archives that there have been patches since then. After weeks of sporadic attempts to get my hands on contemporary sources I'm forced to appeal to you all - does someone have a tarball that I can download to evaluate?
Cheers,
Steve
