Elvin,

Credit is due to the whole Linmodems team.

For your info, a Russian/Israeli wrote the Linux slmodem code, as a
contractor to Smartlink.
Many List followers have since contributed incremental updates, as the
Linux kernel evolved.
An Italian did the trial, which revealed that your Motorola chipset
was also slmodem supportable.
The maintainer of the Debianized package is "أحمد المحمودي (Ahmed
El-Mahmoudy)" <aelmahmoudy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> . The hodge podge
of scanModem code mostly originates with me in the US. Jacques at the
TechnionU in Israel is maintainer the Linmodems web site.

May we put you on a short list of Portugese speakers, as we
occasionally have translation problems?

Best

Hello Marvin,

I would really like to express my gratitude, if not for your help I
wouldn't be able to use LInux properly right now, dial-up connections
may not be the cheaper compared to 3G and other very affordable
wireless connections widely available everywhere, but it's extremely
stable in heavy-rainy regions like the amazon where I live, beter than
staying online at higher speeds for really short periods of time, my
dial-up stays connected for weeks no matter how much it's raining out
there, that's why I still persist on using it.

Ubuntu 11.04 ( Natty Narwhel ) doesn't support dial-up at all, so it
wasn't easy as a complete linux newbie to make it work, and without
your help it would never happen.

Thank you once again for your extremely helpful step-by-step assistance.
