If the packages are already installed, then proceed with

> $ tar -zxvf martian-full-20100123.tar.gz
> $ cd martian-full-20100123
> $ make clean
> $ make
> $ sudo make install

> $ sudo martian_modem

> leave it running in the background, and open up another terminal window and type
