compiling a modem driver under Ubuntu

Helping Aran with EP536 under Ubuntu kernel 2.6.35-24-generic-pae

This kernel is found with either Maverick or Lucid, I do not know which 
was initially installed. The machine is readily networked.

Can somebody tell us how to install kernel headers for 
2.6.35-24-generic-pae both in a  Lucid and in a Maverick system?

Sorry to bother with such trivia: I am addicted to RPM systems only, 
where this is just needs     yum install kernel-headers ...
